Rotterdam Art Week 2026 - Visum Mundi

A Multiple Video Exhibition
at Foundation Het Wilde Weten, Rotterdam, the Netherlands

I’m happy to announce that, coinciding with the Art Rotterdam/Unseen art fair 2006 and the Rotterdam Art Week, three artists of Foundation Het Wilde Weten in Rotterdam will host a video exhibition. Participating artists are Esther Kokmeijer, Luuk Smits and Frank van der Salm.

Frank van der Salm - The Deal, 2015
The Deal, 2015, reflects the political arena in Hong Kong since 1997, in which the city’s English colonial history and the Chinese mandate are dialectically intertwined. The 24/7 metropolis between west and east is undergoing a metamorphosis; the ‘western market’ is the relic where an irreversible new philosophy dominates. Beijing dictates, setting the pace, causing the city, like a hungry organism, to shed its old skin and to retain only those old ideas that adapt to a new ecosystem.

Luuk Smits – Madskills
MADSKILLS is a video installation developed in collaboration with the Canadian Centre for Architecture (CCA) in Montreal. In this work, Luuk Smits explores how construction workers and creators document and share their work via social media. They use smartphones to film machines, work activities, and construction processes. With this work, Luuk aims to show how labour today becomes visible and circulates through digital channels. At the same time, he raises questions about representation, authorship, and the influence of social media on the way we perceive labour and the built environment.

Esther Kokmeijer - Deep Meaning of Voyaging - My Sea Is Your Sea
